Highest Bungee Jumps in the World: Top 10
China's Balinghe Bridge leads the highest bungee jumps on Earth, with jumpers falling from 370 m above a river valley, as of October 2026 records.
This Finepedia guide, written in October 2026, ranks the ten tallest bungee jumps that members of the public can book. Most are on bridges over deep gorges, but the list also includes a dam, a tower and a pedestrian bridge built only for adventure sports. China holds three of the top places, while Switzerland and Austria fill much of the lower half. For more record heights, see the Finepedia guides Highest Bridges in the World: Top 10 and Tallest TV and Observation Towers: Top 10.
How We Chose These
We ranked fixed sites by the jump height published by each operator, checked against Guinness World Records, HighestBridges.com, Wikipedia and travel guides from 2025 and 2026. Only places where paying visitors can jump on a regular schedule are included. That rules out Colorado's Royal Gorge Bridge, about 321 m high, which has hosted only rare invitational events, and the SkyJump at the Strat in Las Vegas, which is a guided descent on a wire rather than a true bungee. China's Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, opened in 2025 at about 625 m, also does not count, as its thrill rides do not include a regular bungee as of 2026. Heights are rounded to the nearest metre.

1. Balinghe Bridge Holds the Guinness Record
The Balinghe Bridge carries the Shanghai–Kunming expressway across the Baling River valley in Guanling County, Guizhou province. Opened to traffic in 2009, it is 2,237 m long, and its deck sits about 370 m above the river. On 12 January 2019, Guinness World Records recognised its jump platform, set at 370.25 m, as the highest commercial bungee jump facility in the world.
Key Facts
- Jump height: 370 m (1,215 ft)
- Location: Guanling County, Guizhou, China
- Bridge length: 2,237 m
- Record: recognised by Guinness on 12 January 2019
Did You Know?
Twelve people jumped on the day the record was confirmed. From this height, jumpers enjoy roughly eight seconds of free fall before the cord begins to stretch, longer than at any other bungee site.
2. Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge Hangs Above a Deep Canyon
The glass-floored footbridge at Zhangjiajie in Hunan province opened in August 2016 as the longest and tallest of its kind. It is about 430 m long and spans a canyon in the Wulingyuan scenic area, roughly 300 m deep. Its bungee platform under the deck offers a jump of about 260 m, although some reports give a figure closer to 285 m.
Key Facts
- Jump height: about 260 m (853 ft)
- Location: Zhangjiajie, Hunan, China
- Bridge length: about 430 m
- Opened: August 2016
Why It Matters
The bridge was built as a tourist attraction rather than a road, and it was designed by the architect Haim Dotan. Its see-through floor and the bungee below show how China has turned scenic gorges into adventure destinations.
3. Macau Tower Is the Highest Building Jump
The Macau Tower rises 338 m over the city's peninsula, and its bungee leaps from the outer rim of the observation level, 233 m above the ground. The New Zealand firm AJ Hackett has run the jump since December 2006, when it entered Guinness records as the highest commercial bungee from a building.
Key Facts
- Jump height: 233 m (764 ft)
- Location: Macau, China
- Tower height: 338 m
- Operator: AJ Hackett, since 2006
Did You Know?
Because the jump is so close to the tower, a guide cable keeps jumpers from swinging into the structure. The cable limits sideways movement but does not slow the fall, so it still counts as a true bungee.
4. The Cliff at Kushma Spans the Kali Gandaki
The Cliff, near Kushma in western Nepal, opened on 31 October 2020 after delays caused by the pandemic. Its jump is made from a platform on a steel suspension footbridge about 520 m long, which links Parbat and Baglung districts high above the Kali Gandaki River. The jump height is 228 m, the highest in Nepal.
Key Facts
- Jump height: 228 m (748 ft)
- Location: Kushma, Parbat district, Nepal
- Bridge length: about 520 m
- Opened: October 2020
Why It Matters
Kushma is about 57 km from Pokhara, Nepal's main adventure hub. The site also offers a giant swing about 248 m above the river and has brought many domestic and foreign visitors to a quiet hill town.
5. Verzasca Dam Became Famous Through a Film
The Contra Dam, better known as the Verzasca Dam, is a concrete arch dam in the Ticino region of southern Switzerland, built between 1961 and 1965. Its 220 m jump is the highest in Europe. It became world famous in 1995, when a stuntman leapt from its crest in the first minutes of GoldenEye, a James Bond film.
Key Facts
- Jump height: 220 m (722 ft)
- Location: Val Verzasca, Ticino, Switzerland
- Structure: concrete arch dam, completed 1965
- Known for: the GoldenEye stunt (1995)
Did You Know?
In a 2002 poll by a British film channel, viewers named the GoldenEye leap the greatest stunt ever filmed. Soon after the film came out, the dam's owners began leasing access to a commercial bungee company.
6. Bloukrans Bridge Is a Garden Route Landmark
The Bloukrans Bridge carries the N2 highway along South Africa's Garden Route, over a river on the border of the Western Cape and Eastern Cape. Completed in 1983, the concrete arch bridge stands 216 m above the water. Face Adrenalin has run its bungee since 1997, and it is one of the best-known bungee sites in Africa.
Key Facts
- Jump height: 216 m (709 ft)
- Location: near Nature's Valley, South Africa
- Bridge opened: 1983
- Operator: Face Adrenalin, since 1997
Why It Matters
For many years Bloukrans was billed as the tallest bridge bungee open to the public anywhere and helped make the Garden Route a magnet for thrill seekers. In 2010, Mohr Keet jumped here at the age of 96.
7. Skypark SkyBridge Was Built for Adventure
Skypark near Sochi, in southern Russia, opened on 5 July 2014 with the 439 m SkyBridge across the Akhshtyr gorge. The park opened in partnership with AJ Hackett, and the bridge's central platform hosts Bungy 207, a 207 m jump towards the Mzymta River. It is the highest bungee in Russia.
Key Facts
- Jump height: 207 m (679 ft)
- Location: Akhshtyr gorge, near Sochi, Russia
- Bridge length: 439 m
- Opened: July 2014
Did You Know?
The SkyBridge was designed to withstand strong earthquakes and heavy winds at the same time. Walking from one side to the other takes about 627 steps.
8. Europabrücke Carries the Brenner Motorway
The Europabrücke, or Europe Bridge, carries the Brenner motorway across the Wipp valley, a short way south of Innsbruck in Austria. Built between 1959 and 1963, it was for a time the highest bridge in Europe, at about 190 m above the valley floor. Today a 192 m bungee jump is offered from the bridge.
Key Facts
- Jump height: 192 m (630 ft)
- Location: near Innsbruck, Tyrol, Austria
- Bridge length: 777 m
- Opened: 1963
Why It Matters
The bridge is a key link on the main road over the Alps between Germany and Italy. Jumping while heavy traffic rolls overhead makes it one of the more unusual bungee sites on this list.
9. Niouc Bridge Is Called the Spider Bridge
The Niouc Bridge is a narrow steel footbridge over the Navisence gorge at the entrance to the Val d'Anniviers in the Swiss canton of Valais. Its jump of about 190 m has been offered since 1997. It is often nicknamed the spider bridge.
Key Facts

10. Pont de l'Artuby Overlooks the Verdon Gorge
The Pont de l'Artuby is a road bridge on the edge of the Gorges du Verdon in Provence, France, finished around 1940. Operators give its jump height as about 182 m, the highest in France, though map readings suggest the valley floor may be closer. Latitude Challenge has run the jump since 1989.
Key Facts
- Jump height: about 182 m (597 ft)
- Location: Gorges du Verdon, Var, France
- Structure: reinforced concrete arch bridge
- Operator: Latitude Challenge, since 1989
Why It Matters
The Verdon Gorge is one of Europe's deepest canyons and draws climbers, kayakers and hikers. Just missing this list are Valgadena in Italy, at about 175 m, and the Kölnbrein Dam in Austria, at about 165 m.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where did modern bungee jumping start?
Modern bungee began on 1 April 1979, when daring members of an Oxford student club for risky sports leapt from Bristol's Clifton Suspension Bridge in England. The idea echoes the land diving ritual of Pentecost Island in Vanuatu, where young men leap from tall wooden towers with forest vines bound around each ankle.
Who opened the first commercial bungee site?
New Zealander AJ Hackett, who leapt from the Eiffel Tower in Paris in June 1987, opened the first commercial site at the Kawarau Bridge near Queenstown in 1988 with Henry van Asch.
Conclusion
The highest bungee jumps on the planet are led by the Balinghe Bridge in China at 370 m, more than 100 m above second-placed Zhangjiajie. Bridges dominate the list, but a dam made famous by James Bond and a city tower also rank among the tallest. New bridges in China and elsewhere may soon push the record even higher.
